Colin had a son.
I was looking at my plant and have a sneaking suspicion that there are actually a number of plants in the pot. If so, this is potentially good news as it means I may be able to re-pot a number of these shoots in the spring.
As an experiment however, I took the weediest looking shoot and have repotted him. Same mix in terms of soil as Colin. I figure that if this little chap can make it through then it will bode well for the future.
